The NMHU Cowgirls lost another close one Friday. The Cowgirls lost 70-75 to Colorado School of Mines in OT. The Cowgirls held onto the lead throughout the second half, but let the Ore Diggers catch up late to send the game into OT. The Cowgirls held tough, but two late 3-Pointers by the Ore Diggers shut the door on the Cowgirls. The Cowgirls dropped to 0-7 on the season and 0-3 in RMAC play.

Delisha Utsey was all over the court, scoring a team high 23 points. Veronica Lerma pitched in with 15 of her own and Jessica Armijo made her presence known with 13 points. Utsey, who had sat out a few games due to injury looks to be playing at full strength. Utsey went 7 for 16 from the field and 4-10 beyond the arc. She also had 5 rebounds and 1 assist. Lerma was relentless with her defense which garnered her 2 steals. She also had 3 rebounds and 1 assist in 42 minutes played. Armijo looked to be 100% as she too had just come back from an injury. Armijo finished off the night going 4-7 from the field and 3-5 from the 3-point line.
The Cowgirls are looking better and better as the season progresses. Yes, they have a winless record but they are showing improvement with every game. I foresee the Cowgirls first win coming very soon. The Cowgirls will have another chance to put one in the win column this Monday as they face in-state rival Eastern New Mexico @ 6:00pm in Las Vegas, NM. Come on out and support your Cowgirls!!!
